In-Clinic Diagnostics
Tipton Ridge Veterinary Medical Center is pleased to offer a complete, in-clinic bloodwork laboratory to better care for the precious pets under our care in the Pulaski, Virginia area. Our clinic has invested in one of the most advanced diagnostic systems available in veterinary medicine, enabling our veterinarians to obtain accurate results quickly and begin treatment immediately if necessary.
Our laboratory can provide blood chemistry panels, complete blood counts (CBCs), electrolyte values, and fecal and urinalysis results. Blood chemistries indicate how well your pet’s liver, kidney and pancreas function. A CBC can indicate your pets overall health, as red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets are all counted; it can also indicate certain infections, cancers, and the blood’s ability to clot. Electrolytes indicate whether an animal is dehydrated. Fecal testing can indicate intestinal parasites that cannot be seen by a physical exam, and can, on occasion, be spread to humans. Urinalysis can let our doctors know if your pet has certain infections or diabetes.
Since our precious pets are unable to communicate how they feel, diagnostic blood work is one of the most important tools for our experienced veterinarians in determining whether or not the pet has an issue. Bloodwork is important prior to any surgical procedure to search for issues that may not be present on physical exams and to help ensure the pet is strong enough for the surgery. Finally, blood work is an important tool to help our doctors find potential issues early, when treatment can be more effective.
